Location & Area

Central Location

Our home is located in the 7th arrondisement, within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and a short two blocks from the Seine. Whether you like to walk along the Seine, shop at the numerous upscale shops along the rue, try out the multitude of cafes, bistros and restaurants, or spend time strolling among the vendors on the famous open air market located around the corner on rue Cler, this area has it all. It is a true Parisian community and one in which you will feel instantly at ease and comfortable.

Rue Saint Dominique is a bustling and active street but because our apartment is located in building D and is accessed by going through two courtyards before arriving at our building, it is extremely quiet, far from the street. The only sound you wake to in the morning is the sound of the church bells ringing from Eglise Saint Jean, located around the corner. So it really is the best of both worlds – quiet because of the location at the back of the complex yet located on a fabulous, bustling street that does not close down at night.

Transportation

Our apartment is within walking distance of both the La Tour/Marbourg (line 8), and Invalides metro stations (line 13). Tickets can be purchased before you come to Paris or inside at either of the metro locations. Paris has an extensive and easy to use bus system that makes it easy to get around as well. The bus stop for line 69 is a half block outside our front door. There is a taxi stand around the corner from our building. A bicycle rental shop is within walking distance of our apartment. And the most efficient, least expensive and often the most interesting way of getting around is walking.

Favorite Restaurants

Within a half block in each direction of our apartment is every kind of ethnic restaurant you could wish for – Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Greek, Italian, Irish, British – and those are just the ones I’ve found. There are many more tucked away in the side streets and alleys surrounding our local neighborhood. I have spent countless hours in our neighborhood cafes and restaurants so I would feel confident in recommending them to you (well, someone had to do this, right?). And I have added this information, with menus from the restaurant when possible, in addition to the numerous suggestions of our guests themselves, in our Guest Handbook which is in the apartment for your perusal.
